How do I configure different notification types?

This guide shows how to configure the notification channels email, SMS and app push per alarm type in KentixONE.

Prerequisites

  • KentixONE system is running stable and devices are accessible.
  • Access to the KentixONE web interface with appropriate permissions.
  • For email: activated KentixONE online service or configured SMTP server and at least "Small" license.
  • For SMS: Activated SIM card in a SIM-capable device (e.g. SiteManager/AlarmManager) and mobile connection.
  • For app push: KentixONE online service and at least "Small" license, KentixONE app installed and linked.

Step-by-step guide

1. Set up email notifications

  1. Create user and enter email address.
  2. Assign relevant alarm groups to the user to receive notifications for these.
  3. In the "Notifications" category, specify for each alarm type (Always Active, Armed Active, Fire, Sabotage, System) whether email should be used for alarm and/or warning.

Behind the email input field, a test email can be sent to verify the setup.

Email notification is available on all KentixONE devices, but requires a configured SMTP server or an active connection to the KentixONE online service.

2. Set up SMS notifications

  1. Insert activated SIM card and enable mobile connection. In the SIM information you can see connection status, network operator and ICCID. Once the device is registered in the network, the status "Ready" appears.
  2. Enter a phone number in international format (e.g. +49 ...) in the user configuration.
  3. Under "Notifications", specify for each alarm type whether SMS should be sent for alarm and/or warning.

3. Set up app push notifications

  1. Link and activate KentixONE online service. You can find detailed instructions at: KentixONE Online Service.
  2. Install KentixONE app and link the system with the user account (invitation via email).
  3. In the user under "Notifications", enable the push channel for alarms/warnings per alarm type.

Tips & Tricks

  • Send test emails or test SMS to verify the setup.
  • Configure specifically per user which alarm types should trigger alarms and warnings.

Troubleshooting

  • Email not received: Check SMTP server or activate KentixONE online service; check delivery in spam folder.
  • SMS not sent: Ensure SIM status is "Ready", check mobile reception, enter phone number in international format, check prepaid balance.
  • Push not received: Check app login and online connection, allow app permissions for notifications in iOS/Android.
