How do I configure different alarm assignments?

This guide explains alarm assignment in KentixONE: Which alarm types exist, what they mean and how to assign them to a measurement value in a device.

Prerequisites​

  • KentixONE system is running stable and devices are accessible
  • Access to the KentixONE web interface
  • User has permissions to edit devices

Step-by-step guide​

1. Open alarm group​

Open the desired alarm group containing the device via the topology or search.

2. Access device configuration​

Open the device's context menu (three dots) and select "Edit" to open the device's configuration mask.

3. Select relevant parameters​

Navigate to the measurement value or sensor configuration for which you want to set the alarm type.

4. Expand description​

Expand the field for the description or advanced settings to see the "Alarm Type/Alarm Assignment" option.

5. Set alarm type​

Select the desired alarm type from the list (see glossary) and save the configuration. Repeat this for other measurement values if needed.

Tips & Tricks​

  • Use "Armed Active" for alarms that are only relevant when armed (e.g. intrusion).
  • Use "Always Active" for alarms that are always relevant (e.g. temperature, CO, heat detector).
  • "Display Only" is suitable for monitoring values that should not trigger an alarm but must remain visible.

Troubleshooting​

  • Edit option missing: The user role does not have sufficient rights to edit devices.
  • Alarm is not triggered: Check if the group is disarmed (for "Armed Active"), thresholds are correct and the device is accessible.
  • Too many notifications: Adjust the alarm type (e.g. from "Always Active" to "Armed Active") or notification rules.
