How do I arm alarm groups?

In this guide we show three ways to arm alarm groups: via a device (e.g. wall reader or doorlock), manually in the interface or automated via event profiles.

Prerequisites

  • KentixONE system is running stable and accessible
  • Access to the KentixONE interface
  • User role has permission to switch the respective alarm group
  • Minimum: "Arm/disarm assigned alarm groups"

Overview

There are several ways to switch alarm groups:

  1. Arming via a device (wall reader/doorlock)
  2. Manual switching in the interface (detail view)
  3. Automatic switching via time events

Step by Step

1. Switch via a device (wall reader or wireless doorlock)

Configure the device so that it is allowed to switch an alarm group.

  1. Open the configuration of the respective device in the detail view.
  2. Navigate to the "Alarm System(s)" section and select the alarm group you want to arm.
  3. Save and synchronize.
warning

Make sure to select the correct alarm group. The switching authorization results from the user role or access profile.

2. Switch manually in the interface

  1. Open the "Detail View".
  2. Find the desired alarm group.
  3. Click on the lock icon of the group to arm/disarm it.
info
  • Open lock (red) = not armed
  • Yellow lock = partially armed
  • Closed lock (green) = armed

3. Automated via event profile

You can automatically arm/disarm alarm groups at specified times.

  1. Open SmartMonitoring → Event Profiles.
  2. Create a new event and select the target alarm group(s).
  3. Define times and weekdays for "Armed" or "Disarmed".
  4. Save and synchronize.

Tips & Tricks

  • Plan in advance which areas should be armed when.
  • Check pending alarms; open alarms can prevent arming.
  • Door contacts closed? Otherwise the group may not be able to arm.

Troubleshooting

  • No switching icons visible: Missing required permissions.
  • Group does not arm: Acknowledge open alarms, check door contacts and permissions.
