How do I configure the graphical view?

This guide shows how to upload a floor plan in the Visual View, place devices/elements, configure markers and areas, use heatmapping and filter/navigate.

Requirements

  • License: KentixONE Medium or higher
  • Permission: "Visual View" right in the user group
  • A floor plan as image file (e.g. PNG/JPG/SVG/WebP)

Step-by-step guide

1. Upload floor plan

  1. Open the Visual View in the Detail View.
  2. Click the map icon in the top right and upload an image.
  3. After processing, the plan will be displayed and editing will be enabled.

2. Enable edit mode

  • Click the gear icon in the top right.
  • The left bar appears with devices/IOs/alarm groups and "New Element" (free area).
  • The right settings bar appears for placement (grid, columns/rows and magnets).

3. Configure grid

  • Enable the grid and adjust the number of columns/rows to match the floor plan.
  • Already placed markers can automatically align to the grid.

4. Place devices as markers

  1. Drag & drop a device from the left bar onto the floor plan.
  2. Click the marker to open the device menu.

The device menu offers the following settings:

  • Position: X/Y coordinates and "Lock" to prevent movement.
  • Display: Size (S/M/L or percent), border, color, shape (round/square), reset.
  • Extras: Displayed values per marker side; alignment for cameras and racks.

5. Use alarm groups/IOs as areas

  • Alarm groups and IOs can be displayed as areas.
  • The area has a handle in the bottom right for scaling.
  • Additional options: View (Area ↔ Point), size (width/height in pixels), color and opacity.

6. Insert free elements

  • Drag "New Element" from the left bar onto the floor plan.
  • Set a label in the settings and optionally colors/opacity.
  • Suitable for e.g. hot/cold aisles, areas or labels.

7. Enable heatmapping

  1. Select the unit at the top center (e.g. temperature).
  2. A scale appears on the right showing the lowest and highest measured values.
  3. Devices are colored accordingly. Devices without matching values are shown in pale gray.
  4. Click a device to see the exact value.

8. Navigation and filters

  • Navigate between alarm groups via the menu in the top left.
  • Or click a placed alarm group and use the map button to switch to it.
  • All grid/table view filters also apply here - for display on the floor plan and the left bar in edit mode.

Tips & Tricks

  • Visual View as default: Configuration → General → Personalization.
  • Toggle automatic arrangement via the magnet icon.
  • Arrow next to the navigation select jumps directly to the parent alarm group.
  • Double-click on a placed alarm group also navigates into it.
  • With active grid, there is the marker size "Scaling" (adapts to grid cell).
  • While configuration menu is open: Arrow keys move markers; with areas additionally change size using Shift+arrow key.

Troubleshooting

  • If a configuration tooltip extends outside the image, close and reopen it.
  • Many display issues can be fixed by reloading the page.
