Email

KentixONE can automatically send email notifications for alarms and warnings. This function requires the configuration of an SMTP server or can be used via the integrated KentixONE online service. The email configuration is disabled by default and must be set up according to the requirements of the respective environment.

SMTP Settings​

This section configures the basic parameters for connecting to the SMTP server (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol). These settings are required to send emails via an external email server.

Sender Settings​

The sender email address is displayed as the sender address in all emails sent by KentixONE. This address should be a valid email address that corresponds to the configured email account.

The sender address must match the email account being used to avoid problems with spam filters.

Server Configuration​

Enter the address of the SMTP server and the corresponding port number. The default ports depend on the selected encryption mode and are preset automatically.

Encryption and Security​

By default, the SMTP protocol transmits emails unencrypted in plain text. For secure transmission, the encryption modes SSL and STARTTLS are available.

The use of encryption is strongly recommended to ensure the security of transmitted messages.

SSL Encryption​

SSL encryption establishes a secure connection to the SMTP server. The default port for SMTPS (SMTP over SSL) is 465.

STARTTLS Encryption​

STARTTLS initializes an unencrypted connection and then switches to encrypted transmission. The default port for SMTP with STARTTLS is 587.

Authentication​

Login credentials are usually required to access the SMTP server. Enter the username and password of the email account through which the emails should be sent.

When possible, use app-specific passwords instead of the normal account password for increased security.

KentixONE Online Service​

As an alternative to SMTP configuration, emails can be sent via the KentixONE online service. This option requires an active connection to the online service and greatly simplifies email configuration.
