Update

To benefit from the latest features, improvements and security updates, it is important to update KentixONE regularly. This fixes potential bugs and improves the performance and stability of the system.

Prerequisites​

License: KentixONE Basic or higher Permissions: Administrator rights for system updates

Functions & Display​

The update view provides central management for all firmware updates in the KentixONE system. It is divided into different sections:

Displayed Information:

  • Update settings with configurable update channel
  • Main Device status with current firmware version
  • Satellite Devices overview with version information
  • Stored firmware files for management

Special Features:

  • Automatic and manual update options
  • Central management of all connected devices
  • Batch update for multiple Satellite Devices simultaneously

The update functionality is available differently depending on your KentixONE plan. With an active plan, automatic online updates are possible.

Update Settings​

Update Channel​

The update channel determines which type of updates are automatically downloaded:

  • Latest: Newest stable version (recommended)
  • Stable: Only tested, stable versions
  • Additional channel options depending on configuration

Use the "Latest" channel for optimal security and functionality unless you require particularly stable environments.

Main Device ​

Firmware Management​

The Main Device is the heart of the update system. Here you can:

  • View current firmware version
  • Install updates manually or automatically
  • Manage firmware files for Satellite Devices

Update Options​

Manual Update: Upload firmware files directly and install them immediately.

Automatic Update: The system automatically checks for available updates and installs them according to configuration.

Main Device updates should only be performed outside critical operating hours as the system will be temporarily unavailable.

Satellite Devices​

Device Overview​

All connected Satellite Devices are displayed in a table with the following information:

  • Name: Device name and type (e.g., AccessManager, MultiSensor)
  • Address: IP address of the device
  • Version: Current firmware version and build number

Filter Options​

The satellite list can be filtered by various criteria:

  • Device Type: All device types or specific types
  • Alarm Group: Filter by assigned alarm group
  • Search Function: Text-based search for device names

Firmware Management for Satellites​

Manage Firmware: Shows all stored firmware files and enables:

  • Upload of new firmware versions
  • Deletion of outdated firmware files
  • Overview of available versions for different device types

Update Satellites: Enables batch updates for selected devices.

Use the filter function to specifically select certain device types for updates.

Optional Functions:

  • Automatic update notifications
  • Scheduled update windows
  • Backup before updates (recommended)

Updates are cached on the Main Device's SD card and transferred from there to the Satellite Devices.

Tips & Tricks​

  • Perform updates outside business hours
  • Create a configuration backup before major updates
  • Use the batch update function for multiple similar devices
  • Verify functionality of all devices after updates
