Satellite Settings
The Satellite Settings allow configuring a Kentix device as a Satellite Device and connecting it to a Main Device. Through this configuration mask, the operating mode of the device is determined and the connection to the superior Main Device is established.
Operating Mode
Ethernet-capable Kentix devices can be operated in the operating modes Main Device, Stand-Alone Device, or Satellite Device. The choice of operating mode determines the functionalities that are available in the device's own KentixONE web interface.
Mode
Here the operating mode of the device is determined:
- Main: The device acts as a central management unit and can manage other Satellite Devices
- Satellite: The device is operated as a Satellite Device and is managed by a Main Device
The selection of the operating mode determines which functionalities are available in the KentixONE web interface. Satellite Devices have limited local configuration options.
Main Address
When configuring as a Satellite Device, the IP address of the superior Main Device must be specified. This address enables the Satellite Device to connect to the Main Device and be managed by it.
The IP address of the Main Device must be entered correctly. An incorrect address prevents the connection between Satellite and Main Device.
After configuration as a Satellite Device, the device must additionally be learned at the Main Device via the Dashboard menu item.
Device Compatibility
Satellite Devices are operated in conjunction with other Kentix devices. Administration is centralized at the Main Device. Satellite Devices can serve as gateways for additional sensors or DoorLocks. The configuration of sensors and DoorLocks is not done on the Satellite Device, but on the Main Device.
