KentixONE – Configure Door mantrap Function

The mantrap function is used to control two or more doors so that only one door can be opened at a time. This serves to increase security by preventing unauthorized persons from gaining access to a secured area.

Prerequisites

To use the mantrap function, the following are required at minimum:

  1. KentixONE from version 8.5.0
  2. KentixONE Plan "L"
  3. Two AccessManager LAN (KXP-2RS) with two wall readers each
  4. One door contact on each AccessManager
  5. Optional: Presence detector or camera for person separation
warning

A license for KentixONE Plan at least variant "L" is required for the mantrap function.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Create alarm groups

Three alarm groups are required, which represent the areas (zones) of the mantrap and separate these areas through the respective passages.

In the example: "Outside 1", "Inside 1-2" and "Outside 2"

2. Activate function

In the mantrap group "Inside 1-2", the mantrap function is activated in the alarm group settings.

3. Add AccessManager LAN

The AccessManager devices used are added to the alarm group of the mantrap zone, here "Inside 1-2".

info

For the AccessManager devices, "V2" must be selected in the "Configuration" → "Communication" section under "Wall Reader" → "DoorLock-Version". This setting must be made directly on the AccessManager devices.

4. Set up wall readers

The wall readers are assigned to the alarm groups according to their positions:

  • Reader 1 Outside: Group "Outside 1"
  • Reader 1 Inside: Group "Inside 1-2"
  • Set up the door contact on AccessManager 1 in the wall reader settings in the "Door closing notification" function.
  • Reader 2 Inside: Group "Inside 1-2"
  • Set up the door contact on AccessManager 2 in the wall reader settings in the "Door closing notification" function.
  • Reader 2 Outside: Group "Outside 2"

5. Create passages

Create the passages for the mantrap:

  • Use "Add Device" → "SmartAccess" to create a passage. Add readers "Outside 1" and "Inside 1".
  • Create another passage. Add readers "Inside 2" and "Outside 2".

6. Use optional presence detector

If available, you can use a presence detector:

  • Connect presence detector to AccessManager 1 or 2 with digital input 2.
  • Assign the used digital input 2 to alarm group "Inside 1-2".
tip

If a signal from the presence detector is present at digital input 2, opening the access doors to the mantrap zone from outside is prevented.

Function Description

The mantrap function prevents simultaneous opening of passages on both opposite sides of the mantrap room. In the example, these are passages "1" and "2". This is made possible by the combination of door contacts at the passages and the software function "mantrap function". Optionally, an additional presence detector can be used.

Possible Extensions

This function can be extended with additional access points. The AccessManager devices and wall readers are then assigned to the corresponding alarm groups for the zones.
