How do I connect an external alarm system to KentixONE?

This guide shows how to connect an external alarm system to KentixONE via a KIO2260 and arm/disarm it through an alarm group.

Requirements​

  • Access to external alarm system:
    • Hardware access to alarm system
    • Permission to disarm and open housing
  • Required contacts on external alarm system:
    • Output → Arm ready state
    • Output → System is armed (feedback)
    • Input → Pulse for arming
    • Input → Pulse for disarming
  • Basic electrical knowledge:
    • Wiring and connection of alarm system, Eltako relays and 24V DC power supply
  • Basic KentixONE knowledge:
    • Stable operation of KentixONE system
      • Reachable devices
    • Access to KentixONE interface
    • User needs appropriate permissions (interface + arming)
    • Internet connection
  • Required software version:
    • Minimum version 8.5.2
  • Required hardware:
    • SiteManager
    • KIO2260
    • Required contacts on KIO:
      • Input 1 → Arm ready state
      • Input 2 → Feedback (armed status)
      • Output 1 → Switch contact for arm/disarm
    • DoorLock or wall reader with AccessManager for arming
    • 2x Eltako MFZ12DX-UC
    • 24V DC power supply

Step by step guide​

1. Wire hardware​

  • Wire the system according to the diagram (PDF). Note the assignment of KIO inputs/outputs and Eltako relays.

2. Configure Eltako​

  • Relay "arm": xT=1, T=2, F=EW
  • Relay "disarm": xT=1, T=2, F=AW

3. Connect KIO2260 to KentixONE​

  1. Log in as admin to KentixONE.
  2. Add KIO2260 to KentixONE ("Add devices").
  3. Open KIO2260 via "Edit".
  4. Set naming: Input 1 "Arm ready state", Input 2 "Feedback", Output 1 "Switch signal".
  5. Alarm evaluation of inputs can remain "Off" if used exclusively for arming.

4. Configure alarm group​

  1. Open configuration menu of desired alarm group.
  2. Activate "External alarm system" area and assign as follows:
  • Extension module: KIO2260
  • Feedback: KIO2260 → Input 2
  • Arm ready state: KIO2260 → Input 1
  • Switch signal: KIO2260 → Output 1
  1. Under "DoorLock" select the DoorLock/wall reader that should switch the group.
  2. Save.

5. Testing​

  • Open the KIO again via "Edit": The assigned channels are marked as "used by alarm group".
  • Synchronize system.

If no other inputs are used for monitoring on the KIO, you need to set one input to "Display only" and alarm on "Closed". Otherwise the KIO reports "Connection lost".

Tips & Tricks​

  • For deviating setup book remote support in advance - different configuration may be necessary.
  • Familiarize yourself with the alarm system's wiring beforehand.
  • For connected systems: Disable control center or put in revision before changes.

Troubleshooting​

  • Wiring correct and power supplies/relays properly connected?
  • Does the user have permission to arm the alarm group?
  • Does the external system report all contacts in rest/closed position when arming?
