Notification Profiles

With notification profiles, you define through which channels users are informed about alarms, warnings, and system events. A profile can be assigned to multiple users and ensures a consistent alerting strategy. The selection of a notification profile is made directly in the User Profile.

info

Notification profiles are centrally managed. Changes to a profile will affect all users to whom this profile has been assigned.

General

In this section, the basic properties of a notification profile are defined.

Name

Assign a unique and meaningful name to the notification profile.

Typical examples:

  • Standard Notification
  • On-Call Duty
  • Security Officers
  • Email Alerting
tip

Use unique names so that administrators can quickly select the appropriate profile later on.

Notification Channels

In this section, it is determined which events are delivered through which communication channels.

For each available channel, alarm and warning messages can be activated or deactivated separately.

Email

Through the email channel, events are sent to the email address stored in the user profile.

For the following event types, notifications can be configured individually:

  • Permanently Active
  • Armed Active
  • Fire
  • Sabotage
  • System Message

For each event type, the following can be activated separately:

  • Alarm
  • Warning
warning

To send email notifications, email sending must be correctly set up in the communication settings.

SMS

Through the SMS channel, events are sent as text messages.

If no SMS service is configured, a corresponding notice will appear within the configuration mask.

Push

Through push notifications, events can be transmitted to registered mobile devices.

As with the other channels, it can be determined for each event type whether alarms or warnings are to be sent.

Usage in User Profiles

Once a notification profile has been created, it can be assigned to individual users.

The selection is made within the User Configuration in the Monitoring section via the Notification Profiles field.

A user can thereby automatically adopt the alerting methods defined in the profile.

note

By using notification profiles, alerting settings do not need to be maintained individually for each user.

Permissions and Availability

The management of notification profiles is only available to users with the appropriate permissions.

Additionally, the following applies:

  • The function is only available on main devices.
  • The function is only available where users can also be managed.
  • Users without sufficient permissions cannot create or modify notification profiles.
tip

If notification profiles are not visible on a system, check user permissions and the role of the device within the installation.
