How do I perform updates?

This guide explains how to update your KentixONE system – either automatically via the online service or manually using firmware files. Additionally, we will show you how to update the satellites afterwards.

Requirements

  • KentixONE system is running stably and is accessible
  • Access to the KentixONE web interface with administrator rights
  • Internet connection for online updates
  • Remove the SD card from AccessManager, MultiSensor, and alarm system if present
warning

Check the compatibility of your devices' firmware in advance.

What is the latest firmware for my Kentix product?

Devices that are already delivered with a pre-installed version of KentixONE can be updated to the latest version after downloading the update file.

Update files are available on the Kentix website. If a KentixONE plan is activated, the "Update" function in the software can be used for the update. This function also allows devices to be updated automatically.

There are two software update channels available, which differ in scope:

  • Stable: All previous features are retained and the software continues to be maintained.

  • Latest: Provides new features, mostly in conjunction with a KentixONE plan.

Using updates from the Latest channel does not disadvantage users without an existing KentixONE plan in terms of features compared to the Stable version.

To update devices with older firmware versions than KentixONE, a compatibility check is required. This check can be performed using the serial number of the devices.

The serial number contains the year and month of production.

12ab4567xy890

The positions "a" and "b" represent the production year, and "x" and "y" represent the production month, with the numbers rotated.

Example:
a=1, b=2
12 rotated becomes 21
This device was manufactured in 2021.

The same applies to "x" and "y".
Example:
x=1, y=0
Becomes 10, rotated = 01.
This device was produced in January 2021.

Compatible with KentixONE are:

Access Manager
KXP-16-LAN: from 07/2018
Multisensors
KMS-LAN: from 01/2018
KMS-LAN-RF: from 01/2018
Alarm Manager Basic and Pro
KAM: from 01/2018

warning

After updating one or more devices to KentixONE, devices with earlier versions of Kentix firmware are no longer supported. Until replaced with new hardware, these can continue to operate in standalone or master-slave mode with devices of the same firmware versions.

note

Wall readers and DoorLocks are always compatible. If the AccessManager used for control is not compatible, these devices can be operated with the latest generation hardware. When selecting replacement devices for wireless AccessManagers, ensure the compatible wireless technology (radio or BLE).

warning

The KKPT-Touch Keypad is no longer supported in KentixONE. Possible replacements are WallReader KXC-WAx in combination with an AccessManager.

Version 5 and older

Devices with these software versions cannot be updated to newer versions.

info

Installing this software on Kentix devices is the responsibility of the user. The software corresponds to the final functionality at the time of release. No further development or maintenance of the software and hardware on this platform takes place. Kentix does not guarantee the functionality.

  • Use filters in the Satellites list to update specific device types.
  • After a major update, perform a quick function check of all devices.
  • Upload multiple .bin files to update different satellite types in one step.

Troubleshooting

  • Was the SD card removed from the device before the update?
  • Were firmware archives fully extracted?
  • Was the correct file selected for the respective device type?
