How do I perform updates?
This guide explains how to update your KentixONE system - either automatically via the online service or manually via firmware file. We'll also show you how to update the satellites afterwards.
Prerequisites
- KentixONE system is running stable and accessible
- Access to the KentixONE web interface with administrator rights
- Internet connection for online updates
- Remove the SD card from AccessManager, MultiSensor and alarm system if present
Check the firmware compatibility of your devices beforehand.
What is the latest firmware for my Kentix product?
Devices that were shipped with a pre-installed version of KentixONE can be updated to the latest version after downloading the update file.
Update files are available on the Kentix homepage. If a KentixONE Plan has been activated, the "Update" function in the software can be used for updating. This function also offers the possibility to update devices automatically.
There are two software update channels available, which differ in scope:
-
Stable: All previous features remain intact and the software continues to be maintained.
-
Latest: Delivers new features, usually in conjunction with a KentixONE Plan.
Using updates from the Latest channel does not create any disadvantages in functionality for users without a KentixONE Plan compared to the Stable version.
To update devices with older firmware versions than KentixONE, a compatibility check is necessary. This check can be done using the device's serial number.
The serial number contains the manufacturing year and month.
12ab4567xy890
The positions a and b represent the production year and the positions x and y represent the production month,
whereby the numbers are reversed.
Example:
a=1, b=2
12 reversed equals 21
This device is from the year 2021.
The same applies to x and y.
Example:
x=1, y=0
Equals 10, reversed = 01.
This device was therefore produced in January 2021.
Compatible with KentixONE are:
Access Manager
KXP-16-LAN: from 07/2018
MultiSensors
KMS-LAN: from 01/2018
KMS-LAN-RF: from 01/2018
Alarm Manager Basic and Pro
KAM: from 01/2018
After updating one or more devices to KentixONE, devices with earlier versions of Kentix firmware are no longer supported. Until replaced by new hardware, these can continue to operate in standalone mode or in master-slave mode with devices of the same firmware versions.
Wall readers and DoorLocks are always compatible. If the AccessManager used for control is not compatible, these devices can continue to be operated with the latest generation hardware. When selecting replacement devices for AccessManager wireless, note the compatible wireless technology (RF or BLE).
The Keypad KKPT-Touch is no longer supported in Kentix ONE. Possible replacements are WallReader KXC-WAx in combination with an AccessManager.
Version 5 and older
Devices with these software versions cannot be updated to newer versions.
The installation of this software on Kentix devices is the responsibility of the user. The software corresponds to the final functionality at the time of release. No further development or maintenance of the software and hardware on this platform will take place. Kentix does not provide any warranty for the functionality.
