How do I set up the iDFace Max?
The iDFace Max is only compatible with KentixONE version 8.6.0 and later.
This guide explains the initial setup and basic configuration of the Control iD iDFace Max via the touchscreen, as well as the subsequent integration of the device into KentixONE.
For software versions below KentixONE 8.7.0, additional [settings](#6-advanced-settings-onlyone-versions-earlier-than-870 are required. These are explained later in this article.
It is recommended to use KentixONE version 8.6.3, as support for RFID credentials is significantly limited in earlier software versions.
Prerequisites
- The iDFace Max is mounted, powered via PoE, and reachable within the KentixONE network
- Access to the device touchscreen
- Network parameters are known (IP address, subnet mask, gateway)
- The KXP-2-RS serving as the host must be configured in KentixONE as DoorLock Version V2
Basic Configuration via Touchscreen
1. Connect Power
- Connect the device to the network using PoE.
- The device starts automatically.
- Wait until the startup process is complete.
2. Perform Initial Configuration
Select Language
- On the start screen, select the desired language.
Select Country
- Select the country where the device will be operated.
Accept License Agreement
- Read the displayed End User Legal Agreement (EULA) terms.
- Accept the terms and conditions.
- Optionally, scan the displayed QR code for additional information.
3. Create a Web User
To log in to the web interface later and enroll the device in KentixONE, a web user must be created.
Create User
- Enter a username.
- Create a password.
- Confirm the password.
- Click Accept.
Store the username and password securely. Recovering the credentials is not possible without resetting the device.
4. Configure Network Settings
Open the Network Menu
Navigate to:
Menu → General Settings → Network → Network Properties
Enter Network Settings
Enter the required network parameters.
Example:
IP Address: 192.168.0.129
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Web Port: 80
DHCP: Disabled
Save Settings
- Verify the network configuration.
- Save the changes.
The device will later be accessible via the configured IP address and can then be enrolled in KentixONE.
5. Enable SSL
Open SSL Configuration
Navigate to:
Menu → General Settings → Network → Network Properties → SSL
Enable SSL
- Enable the SSL option.
- Select the desired certificate type.

Self-Signed Certificate
Use the certificate automatically generated by the device.

Certificate Authority Certificate
Use a certificate issued by your own Certificate Authority (CA).
Save Settings
- Save the configuration.
- Restart the device if required.
6. Advanced Settings (Only for KentixONE Versions Earlier Than 8.7.0)
Enable Identification Methods on the Web Interface
Open the iDFace Max web interface using its IP address and navigate to:
Access → Identification → Readers
Enable the following options:
- Face Identification
- Card Identification
- QR Code Identification
- PIN Identification
Configure Card Reading Mode
Navigate to:
Access → Identification → Card Reading
Set the parameter:
Card Reading Mode = CSN only
Save Changes
- Save the configuration.
- Verify the settings.
Completion
After successfully completing the basic configuration:
- The device is accessible via the configured IP address.
- SSL is enabled.
- A web user has been created.
- The device can be enrolled in KentixONE.
- The required identification methods are enabled.
- The card reading mode is configured correctly.
Tips & Tricks
- Attention: The on-screen keyboard uses a QWERTY layout.
- The pre-installed firmware version of the iDFace Max was specially provided for Kentix and does not require an update.
Enrolling the iDFace Max in KentixONE
Prerequisites
- The iDFace Max has been configured, has a static IP address, is reachable via the network, and has a web user configured.
- A KXP-2-RS is available in the KentixONE system, configured as DoorLock Version V2, and has already been successfully enrolled.
1. Select Device
To add a new device in KentixONE, click the Add Device button in the top-right corner of the Detail View.
Navigate to:
SmartAccess - iDFaceMax
If no KXP-2-RS is enrolled in the system or the KentixONE version is below 8.6.0, the iDFace Max will not be available for selection.
2. Add Device
- In the Add via field, select the previously configured KXP-2-RS.
- Select the desired alarm group.
- Enter the IP address.
- Assign a display name.
- Enter the web user credentials that were created during the device's initial configuration.
- Click Add.
Troubleshooting
- Verify the correct IP address.
- Ensure the KXP-2-RS is configured as DoorLock Version V2.
- Verify the user credentials.
