Why do false alarms occur due to the leakage sensor?

The Kentix leak sensor KLS03 reports its alarm via the digital input on the AlarmManager or a MultiSensor. In case of faulty alarms, please check the following points.

Permanent alarm

Switching logic

Since this input is in an open state without wiring by external components, but the leakage sensor closes this input when it is plugged in, a pending alarm is signaled after connection to this input.

Therefore, set the system input 1 on the AlarmManager to “Alarm if – Open” after connecting the leakage sensor.

You can now test the alarm from the leakage sensor using a damp cloth.

Damage

If alarms continue to occur after the logic has been switched, check the sensor surface for cleanliness and corrosion.

Leakage detection is based on the principle of the electrical conductivity of water.

If the sensor surface is contaminated with particles or corroded, this can cause a permanent alarm.

Failure to alarm

The alarm for the leakage sensor must be switched “permanently active” so that it is not suppressed by a possible switchover of the arming of the alarm group.

Leakage sensor Rope

The leakage sensor Rope only triggers an alarm when approx. 10ml of water is measured over a total length of 20cm. It is irrelevant whether the water quantity is applied to one piece or to different parts of the sensor.

To test the function, it is possible to wrap a wet rag around the measuring cable to trigger an alarm.
