Mounting the SmartPDU 40HE and 2HE in a rack

There are several options for mounting Kentix SmartPDUs in an IT rack.

The SmartPDU 40U is mounted vertically on the right or left. Mounting brackets are provided for this purpose.
These mounting brackets can be attached to the PDU at any distance to ensure mounting for any conditions. The illustration shows the mounting of the PDU incl. mounting bracket on the respective strut of the IT rack.

Application example:

The SmartPDU 2U is mounted horizontally in the rack. No further mounting brackets are necessary for this PDU. The PDU is simply inserted into the rack from the front and screwed into the corresponding
on both sides in the corresponding mounting openings of the cabinet.

Application example:

Initial commissioning of the SmartPDU

  1. The sensor system of the Kentix SmartPDU is connected with any patch cable. PoE is required for the power supply.
To do this, the cable is connected to the LAN port of the SmartPDU and a PoE-capable switch. Two LEDs (green and orange) on the LAN port signal the correct connection.
  2. By default, the unit is delivered with the DHCP function active. If your network has a DHCP server, an IP address is automatically assigned.
If this is not the case, you can reach the unit under the fallback IP address Please make sure that your add-blocker for the web interface of the SmartPDU is deactivated (this can lead to display errors).

Enter the IP address of the unit in the browser, make sure that your PC is in the same network and log in with the following data:

    Default IP-address192.168.100.226
    User / Passwordadmin / password

Check the settings of the unit under the menu item CONFIGURATION -> NETWORK. If you are operating the unit without DHCP, please set the network configuration to manual and assign the desired IP address.

  3. Now check the firmware version of your Kentix SmartPDU. This is displayed in the SYSTEM menu in the HELP tab. Compare the version with the last published version in the Downloads section.

If necessary, carry out a system update. You can find detailed instructions for the system update here.

After you have carried out these steps, you can continue with the further specific configuration, for example the configuration of the master/slave mode.
