What is the power supply for Kentix devices?

Devices with Ethernet (PoE)

The vast majority of Kentix devices with an Ethernet connection are powered via PoE (Power over Ethernet). Power is then supplied via a PoE-capable switch. If the existing switch does not have a PoE function, the power supply can be provided via a PoE injector.

The main advantages of PoE supply are that only one cable is required for communication and power supply and, if a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) is used, the device continues to function even in the event of power failures.

Devices with radio (battery)

Devices with radio (MultiSensors, door knobs, etc.) are powered by batteries. Lithium cells are used here in most cases. We recommend using the batteries we offer, as we have tested them for wall-free use. There are big differences especially in the discharge behavior and the correct recognition of the state.

Devices with Ethernet (power supplied)

For certain central device units, such as the Kentix SiteManager (appliance), the power supply is provided by external power supplies that can be redundant.

Expansion modules

Expansion modules (KIO10xx) are also supplied with PoE. Alternatively with a separate power supply e.g.

“Mean Well”, NDR switch mode, DIN rail power supply 75W, 90 → 264V ac, 24V dc / 3.2A

Safety note when using external power supplies

When using an external power supply unit, be sure to observe the information on the voltage supply in the respective data sheet of the device.

To ensure the safety and integrity of the operator and the correct operation of the Kentix product, the installation must be carried out exclusively by a competent person. The relevant regulations must also be complied with.
